Christian Community Action is an ecumenical social service organization that expresses faithful witness by providing emergency food, housing and support to those who are poor in New Haven, encouraging them in their efforts to attain self-sufficiency and working to change systems that perpetuate poverty and injustice. We operate the Hillside Family Emergency Shelter, the Stepping Stone Transitional Housing Program, a neighborhood food pantry and a fuel assistance program. We also offer a Program for Internships, Vocational Opportunities and Training (PIVOT) and opportunities for civic education and system change through our Advocacy and Education Project.
