Radical, Chapter 2( (Too Hungry for Words), Question 2

On page 27 (Kindle 408-12) of Radical, Pastor Platt speaks of hosting a "Secret Church," a no frills straight up Bible Study.......no music, no cushioned chairs; just the Word and prayer from 6PM until midnight on a Friday night.   What do you think? Could you hang?

Radical, Chapter 2 (Too Hungry for Words), Question 1

We saw in Chapter 2 how hungry some people around the world are for the Word of God. There was no anointed band, no comfy meeting places, no programs, just a group of people who wanted to know more about God through His Word!

What's the differnce between the hungry and the complacent? Why is the gap so wide? Hunger can't be manufactured. Either you're hungry or you're not. What do you think it would take for the American churchgoer to become truly "hungry" for the Word of God?

2. Following Christ requires a cost that should be considered before we commit (Luke 14:28-32). Why is it important to count the cost of following Jesus before making a commitment to Him? There is a cost for us to follow Him, but when we don't follow Him what is the cost to those around us who don't know Him at all?

1. Following Christ means continually sacrificing who we are for who He is (Luke 14:27). What does it mean to "carry our cross"?  When we follow Christ, what might we be asked to sacrifice? How do churches in America tend to cater to self rather than foster abandoning of self. (see page 7 of the book).  What should we or can we do about it?
