With only one day under my belt, I'm already facing the challenges of a fast and kind of feel like this poor guy looks. I'm not on a complete fast, just a Daniel Fast. It's a relatively easy way to go as far as fasting alternatives; mainly fruits, veggies, nuts, whole grain products, and water. Not bad at all! There are lots of Daniel Fast recipe books out there to help keep things interesting. I suppose the the lack of coffee has hit me the hardest. I had a headache most of the day yesterday; less so today.
I found myself in real spiritual warfare on day one. My flesh wanted to prevail and take over. It didn't want me in the Word or in prayer. I had to take authority, resist temptation and do what I needed to do. Suffice it to say that I surely didn't FEELlike it. That's kind of the point of a fast, to bring you to a place where you're not under the influence of feelings or flesh. You just do what you need to do, diligently and with perseverance. The end result is that you come out of it with some spiritual muscle.
That's exactly what we're going to need this year, subdued, fully mastered flesh and stronger spiritual muscles. I'm getting stronger already!
